    The Puma
The puma , also known as the cougar or mountain lion, is a large, solitary cat found in
both the Americas. Their primary food is deer but they hunt a range of prey, from
insects, mice and rabbits to domestic cats( AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Oh my That calls for a bit of zen meditatin to calm my heart: Om,OmOm alright i will continue), domestic dogs( GOOD ittle be a relief to be rid of them.. just call 1-(800) – eatmydog and well be right over with a puma …i just remembered, my freind cat is named Puma..interesting…), alpaca, livestock, and even
bighorn sheep and elk, and sometimes in the Rocky Mountains kill mature cattle and
horses. They are secretive cats that usually avoid people( Bu Bu But who pets them and groomms them and feeds them milk and gives them water and kisses them and lets them sleep by their fire???), very rarely attacking humans.
Pumas are known by many regional names, including panther, catamount, painter,
American lion, Mexican lion, Florida panther, silver lion, red lion, red panther, red tiger,
brown tiger, deer tiger, ghost cat, mountain screamer, Indian devil, sneak cat, king cat,
and painted cat. The word puma comes from the Quechua language. In Brazil it is also
known as suçuarana, from the Tupi language, but also has other names.
In North America, particularly the United States, panther by itself refers to a puma when
the context implies a local species. In South America, panther refers to the jaguar and
can refer to either the spotted or black jaguar.

here is my blog about cats

Middy

This blog is about my cat it also has information about other cats, such as domestic, lions, and other types.

leopard.jpg Originally, it was thought that a leopard was a mix between a panther and a lion. In North America, panther means puma and in South America a panther is a jaguar. (That is odd). In other places in the world a panther referrse to a leopard. Leopards differ from the panther by the lenth of their tails. The leopard is the fourth largest of the “big cats” in the world with the jaguar, lion and tiger being larger and the fifth largest of all cats with Pumas being slightly larger. Most leopards are lightbrownish-tan or fawn with black rosettes, like our pictuer above, but their coat color is highly variable. There are smaller rosettes and spots on the head. Leapards used to live from africa to north Korea, yet, due to population deacrease, there are small populations in India China Indochina ,an some parts of Malasia. Some humans dont seem to mind putting a whole speice of animal in danger of extinction, but, being an animal myself, i find it quite horrific. I want to say that even when there seems to be no-one around you who seems to care if we lose speacies of animals, if you care, you are alone in location, but not in spirit, for there are others from everywhere all joined by one thought : If we join together, WE can make a difference!!!

lion.jpgThe lion is a mammal of the family Felidae , and is the second largest cat, after the tiger. The male lion, easily recognized by his mane, weighs between 150-225 kg (330-500 lb). Females range 120-150 kg (260-330 lb).[2] In the wild, lions live for around 10–14 years, while in captivity they can live over 20 years. Though they were once found throughout much of Africa, Asia and Europe, lions presently exist in the wild only in Africa and India.
